Once and For All You Can Be Free Of Ugly, Rusty Bumpers
That Need Frequent Replacement!

Is A Routine Tap Or Ordinary Road Vibrations Enough To
Make Your Bumper Look Ugly In A Matter of Months?

You live this problem, don’t you? Bumpers are meant to be your first line of defense against the inevitable bumps and bruises from driving and parking, but typical bumpers don’t last very long because their surfaces can’t resist the normal wear and tear of the road your heavy duty truck has to endure.
  • The scratches, dings, and constant vibration around the screws expose the underlying material to the hostile elements.
  • It doesn’t matter if the surface is chrome clad or painted, or even stainless clad, the effect is the same. Before you know it, water, salt and road chemicals get behind the coating, and rust and corrosion are spoiling the looks of your expensive truck.
And there you are again plunking down hundreds of dollars for a new bumper. Then in another 12 to 15 months, the cycle typically repeats itself. Fortunately, you don’t have to put up with this constant cycle of bumper replacements!

Good News: Bumpers Made Of Solid Stainless Steel Will Not Rust!

But you already know that about stainless steel. It's the nickel content of stainless steel that keeps it from rusting. Both science and years of exposure to the elements and abuse of stainless steel in many applications has shown that 8% nickel content is the right mix. To resist corrosion, it has to be 100% solid stainless steel. Otherwise your bumper may have stainless facing the road, but rust and corrosion will creep up on you from the back.

For A Sturdy Bumper You Have To Pick The Right Strength Of Stainless Steel, Too!
To stand up to the everyday scars delivered by America's highways, the stainless steel also has to be stiff enough not to wither under every bump, tap, ding, or scratch. 10-gauge steel has the properties you need. -- Actually, 10-gauge exceeds the requirements out of prudence, but it strikes the right balance between weight and strength. -- It makes a stiff bumper that can span the width of your Class 8 truck, providing expected protection, without making you haul unnecessary extra weight. This is how one of our loyal customers, who’s bought American Durabilt® bumpers for both his Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks since February 2004, put it:

"My American Durabilt stainless steel bumper is a lot sturdier than OEM or other options I’ve owned. I’ve hit deer, dogs and curbs without damage to my truck. Without it, road hazards would have cost me tires and who knows what else."   (C.B., E. Bethel, MN)

You also have to make sure that there are stainless steel flanges in the back – for stiffness without unnecessary weight. It's very important that the weld is 100% stainless steel, too. Otherwise, your new bumper is open to rusting, staining and corroding from the back.

Warning: Don't Fall For The Lure Of Stainless Clad!

While the surface may look the same to the untrained eye, it takes solid 304-stainless steel to produce the right protection for your truck that will retain its good looks. Stainless clad bumpers have an aluminum base... a combination resulting in a flimsy bumper, so you’ll still be replacing bumpers frequently. 100% solid stainless steel is the only way to go.

And You Don’t Need To Sacrifice Good Looks!
It takes a lot of know-how and time to achieve a mirror finish
-- edge to edge, and around each bend and seam.

It takes a consistent grade of T-304 stainless steel, free of visible flaws, to produce a true #8 mirror finish. It takes a combination of an experienced operator, inspections at each step, and the right machinery and tools to achieve a finish so reflective, you could use it as a shaving mirror.

Bumpers are cut to precision to fit your truck. They are are polished so that you can’t tell where the shine of the flat surface ends and the edges and sides begin. (To get it right, it takes a lot of attention to polishing detail.)

You should be able to select the configuration of lights, tow hook holes and other options.

And your bumper should always be covered with blue plastic to protect the surface and packed so it won’t slip and slide – giving you scratches you didn’t ask for.

How does American Durabilt® build its premium quality bumpers? Read about our proprietary 18 step process.

"I just wash it to keep it looking nice."

That’s how one of our loyal customers, who’s bought 4 American Durabilt® solid stainless steel bumpers for his Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks, puts it. But, if you want, you can take a little more care periodically, by buffing the surface following a simple
3-step process.

The Ordering Is SIMPLE!!
Based on your truck make and model, you should be able to choose quickly the classic style you like – by picking among classic end styles, flange sizes, light hole patterns and tow hook set ups. Input your credit card and shipping information, and you should be done in 5 minutes or so. The finished bumper should be drop shipped to your location in 5 days or less – with an email notification to you, to let you know that your new bumper is on its way!

Installation should be easy, too. What makes the difference are precisely placed and cut mounting holes and stainless bolts. (Some of our satisfied customers have told us that installation takes 45 minutes from cutting the stays on the box to tightening the last bolt.)

The lifetime warranty against rust should be clear and the rest of the terms should be easy to understand. (Read the Warranty and Guarantee section.)

All This And It Still Costs Less Than $200 Per Year?

Yes! Let’s say you want to be conservative and look at the comparative economics over 5 years – a typical period for ownership of a truck before trade or resale. Here’s how it looks for a chrome vs. a stainless steel bumper.

Solid Stainless SteelTypical ChromeAssumptions
Price$800$550 each18", box end, 9 oval light holes
# purchases14Stainless: 1 only
Chrome: 1 per 18 mos.
Shipping$100$100 each Avg. weight & distance
Total spent$900$2,600Total spending in 5 years
Avg. cost/Year$180$520For each of 5 years used in example

In fact, if you plan to sell or trade your truck, its value should be improved by the fact that you have a solid stainless steel bumper installed. At any rate, you won’t have to spend money to get a new one to dress it up for resale.
